The Asbury Park Press is seeking a digital-first breaking news reporter to cover one of the most-read topics at the Jersey Shore. We are looking for someone who hates to get beat, will go to scenes to fully report not only the news, but the context, and is always on the lookout for follow-up stories and trends.
The position demands initiative, accuracy, urgency and strong news judgment. Quick writing and reporting skills are crucial. So is the ability to juggle stories while staying focused on the digital details of story production: headlines, SEO, multimedia assets and other points of optimization.
The Asbury Park Press is one of the larger newsrooms in the USA TODAY Network and is located at the Jersey Shore, home to some of the most-visited beaches in the country. We're about an hour from New York City and 90 minutes from Philadelphia. It's a great place to live and work.
