Job Description
This role is based in our 275 Grove Street, Newton, Boston, MA 02466 office.
CIO Dive is looking for a sharp reporter ready to deliver timely, insightful coverage of the IT industry. In this role, you’ll dive into the fast-paced world of business technology and strategy, writing breaking news briefs, in-depth articles, and features to help tech executives cut through the growing noise.
You’ll collaborate closely with a team of journalists to develop engaging coverage, whether it’s a quick-turn earnings analysis or a deep dive into a new technology trend.
This is your beat to own. You’ll pitch original story ideas, build strong industry connections and chase down stories that matter the most. Reporting directly to CIO Dive’s editorial director, you’ll have an opportunity to shape coverage and have an impact.
What you’ll do:
- Develop source relationships with organizations and analysts relevant to your beat
- Pitch story ideas and work with editors to refine angles
- Write an average of 5 items per week, of varying length and depth
- Identify and support team coverage of key storylines
- Produce daily and weekly newsletters alongside your team — reporting, writing and editing every day in a collaborative fashion
- Work as a team player to support CIO Dive's ambitious goals
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in Enterprise IT coverage or translatable business reporting experience preferred.
- A proven track record of strong journalism business reporting and writing skills
- Ability to interpret and analyze business concepts, earnings reports, industry trends, and major news stories and to connect the dots to highlight larger trends
- Ability to build relationships with important sources and report on complex subjects
- Experience interpreting and analyzing business and financial news, trends and concepts
- Deadline-oriented time management skills; ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment — reporters might need to quickly pivot to cover emerging news
- Bachelor's degree or better in journalism, English or similar field
Additional Information
The salary range for the role is $70,000 to $75,000, depending on experience.
