POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Distance Learning Network (DLN) director, performs technical duties related to distance-delivered (e-learning) course design and development.
Responsibilities:All
Assists in the design and/or development of instructional projects for the Distance Learning Network (DLN), Community Health Services, and other partners. Collaborates with other Instructional Designers, e-learning specialists, faculty, subject matter experts (SMEs), project leads, and project-related collaborators (videographer, photographer, etc.), to develop course materials that are original, informative, functional, accessible, intuitive, and consistent with sound instructional design principles. Projects primarily focus on career development, advancing career knowledge, introducing new skills, and continuing education. Participates in project development, including design, production, testing, delivery (learning management systems), and revisions. May work on multiple projects at the same time. Creates materials with attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines.
Instructional Designer I
Works under direct supervision and assists in various facets of instructional design and development projects for the DLN.
Instructional Designer II
Works under intermittent supervision and assists in various facets of instructional design and development of projects for the DLN.
Instructional Designer III
Works under general supervision and performs various facets of instructional design and development of projects for the DLN. Manages and coordinates multiple instructional development projects, including all phases of design, production, testing, delivery (learning management systems), revision, and maintenance.
Instructional Designer IV
Works under minimal supervision and performs various facets of instructional design and development of projects for the DLN. Responsible for project management and coordinating multiple instructional development projects, including phases of design, production, testing, delivery (learning management systems), revision, and maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

Instructional Designer III and IV
Knowledge of adult learning theory and concepts.
Knowledge of user experience and web usability principles, including ADA/accessibility.
Experience designing and developing distance-delivered (e-learning) courses (synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, instructor-led).
Experience applying current research and theory to the practice of instructional design.
Experience managing small to medium-scale projects from initiation through delivery with timely task completion while meeting quality standards.
Experience developing storyboards or other educational assets in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs).
Skill in course design/development for e-learning using content development tools.
Tools: Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, or other content development tools.
Skill in editing and reviewing content with attention to design, functionality, accessibility, detail, and accuracy.
Skill in managing content (editing, updating, administering) within a learning management system (LMS).
Tools: Moodle, Blackboard or similar.
Skill in formatting using HTML and CSS (within LMS).
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
