The Department of Communication at Bradley University seeks applicants for an assistant professor of Sports Communication to begin August 2026.

We seek a dynamic and creative professor who demonstrates an ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in sports communication and prepare students for rapidly changing sports media industries. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sports promotion and publicity, gender and sport, sport and society, and ethical and international issues in sports. Other responsibilities include scholarship in sports communication, academic advising, and assisting with the graduate program in sports communication.

Preference will be given to candidates with an appropriate terminal degree, college-level teaching experience, a promising record for research and/or creative production, and relevant professional experience. For a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor, an appropriate terminal degree, college-level teaching experience and appropriate professional experience are required. ABDs and applicants demonstrating progress toward a terminal degree will be considered, but are only eligible for tenure-track assistant professor status upon completion of the terminal degree.

With nearly 300 majors and minors, the Department of Communication is one of the largest departments in the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts and at Bradley. The Department offers majors in Advertising and Public Relations, Journalism, Organizational Communication, Media Production, Sports Communication, and Communication Studies. The department is home to the Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication and the Bradley Speech Team. The department is housed in the Caterpillar Global Communications Center-a contemporary media facility with technology-enhanced classrooms and digital audio and video editing facilities.
