Muskegon Community College, an associate degree-granting institution of higher education, is a center for lifelong learning offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs. We are seeking qualified candidates for adjunct instructors.
The Adjunct Instructor Pools are for applicants interested in teaching in the future as a part-time adjunct instructor. The pools are always open, though immediate openings are not guaranteed.
Required Skills
Master's Degree in discipline or 18 credits in the specific discipline. Prefer teaching experience at the college level.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Experience with instructional technology preferred.
Responsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention, and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes.
Willingness to work a varied schedule.
Commitment to student success and the comprehensive community college concept.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use electronic resources including email, the Internet, and the college’s integrated database record‑keeping system.
Essential Functions
Teach assigned courses which may include day, night, and online courses, at the main campus and extension centers.
Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
Grade assignments to promote student growth and assign final grades in a timely manner.
Provide educational assistance to students during office hours or by appointment.
Encourage student opinion survey completion and review results to improve student success.
Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
