Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Photographer is responsible for capturing images that complement the newspaper's written content. This role involves photographing a variety of events, portraits, and features, as well as working closely with the editorial team to ensure visual consistency and quality.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:
  • Capture Key Events:
    • Photograph campus events, sports games, student activities, breaking news, and other newsworthy moments.
    • Capture comprehensive coverage of major events.
  • Work with Editorial Team:
    • Collaborate with editors and writers to understand photographic needs and assignments.
  • Photograph Portraits and Features:
    • Capture portraits of students, faculty, and interview subjects.
    • Edit and retouch photos as needed.
  • Enhance Digital and Print Content:
    • Collaborate with the multimedia team to provide images for online content, social media, and multimedia projects.
    • Ensure photos are formatted for both print and digital formats.
Required Qualifications
  • Background in photojournalism.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold ethical reporting standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience with The Panther or a comparable publication.


Special Instructions to Applicants

Be able to attend weekly staff meetings throughout each semester.
