Summary

Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinguished candidates to teach in the Department of English and Modern Languages. This is a tenure-track position beginning August 2026. Appointment of rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach Foundational Core courses, including both College Composition and survey literature (World, American, and/or British), as well as upper-level literature courses as needed. Expertise in Early British studies or American literature is welcomed. Scholarly activity, professional service, student advising, faculty governance responsibilities, and chapel attendance are also required. Additionally, participation in departmental assessment and accreditation efforts are expected.
Typical Qualifications

A PhD in English with a literature emphasis and a strong record of previous teaching experience is required. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk, and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University.
Supplemental Information

The English and Modern Languages Department has nine full-time faculty members. The department offers English concentrations in Creative Writing, English Literature, and English Education as well as majors in Spanish and Spanish Education. Department faculty also supervise the University Writing Center as well as two literary journals: Parnassus, an undergraduate journal of art and Creative Writing, and Relief Journal, a national journal of faith and writing.
