The Access Services Law Librarian manages the circulation functions of the law library. The core responsibilities of this position include:
Oversees daily circulation operations, including managing opening and closing procedures, circulation desk activities, and patron services across all service hours.
Supervise and manage the circulation student workforce, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and promoting a high standard of service.
Develop staffing schedules and ensure consistent coverage across the library's hours of operation.
Provide mentorship for student workers.
Catalogs and classifies materials.
Provide interlibrary loan services, including lending, borrowing, and document delivery.
Supervise and manage the physical collection's upkeep, including stack maintenance, shelf-reading, shifting projects, and reserve collection.
Coordinate loose-leaf filing, bindery functions, and microform maintenance.
Develops guides to the library collection and research aids using the LibGuides platform.
Participates in collection development.
In addition to these core responsibilities, an employee with appropriate experience will
Assist with content on the Law School's Digital Commons Repository and website.
Provides reference and research services to library patrons, including answering questions at the public reference desk and responding to faculty and student requests submitted in person or via other forums, including email.
Teaches in and/or provides support for the required first-year legal research course as well as in other incidental teaching or training activities.
