Summary
The Tim Russert Department of Communication at John Carroll University seeks an accomplished professional for a full-time Faculty of Practice position in Digital Media. The successful candidate will bring extensive professional experience in digital content creation and production and a strong record of leadership, innovation, and collaboration within the communication industries.
The Faculty of Practice will primarily teach undergraduate courses within the Digital Media concentration of the Communication major, with potential opportunities to teach in the M.A. in Digital Marketing & Communication Strategy program. This position emphasizes experiential and project-based learning and values a commitment to student development, creativity, and engagement with the professional world.

We offer a major in Communication with concentrations in Digital Media, and Integrated Marketing Communication, as well as a graduate program in Digital Marketing & Communication Strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate courses across a range of areas, which may include media theory, audio fundamentals, video fundamentals, digital media production, video editing, media writing, journalism, sports broadcasting, professional communication, internships, and media entrepreneurship. The teaching load is four courses per semester. Integrate professional tools, software, relevant AI, and current industry practices into teaching and student projects in Digital Media and Integrated Marketing Communication. Potentially teach in the Digital Marketing & Communication Strategy graduate program. Advise and mentor students in internships, professional portfolio development, and career readiness. Foster experiential and project-based learning within courses and co-curricular activities within department offerings Develop partnerships and collaborative ventures with businesses, media organizations, and other departments within the university. Contribute to the public presence of the department and the University through events, outreach, and media initiatives. Exemplify Jesuit values, especially the commitments to developing "women and men for and with others" and "caring for the whole person." Required Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent professional distinction. Extensive professional experience in digital media production or a closely related field. Demonstrated record of leadership, innovation, and collaboration in the communication or media industries. Evidence of effective teaching, training, or mentoring at the college level or in professional settings. Ability to teach a range of digital media courses and incorporate current professional tools and technologies. Working knowledge of core video production and editing programs (i.e., Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Audition, Audacity, Blackmagic ATEM, etc.) including AI video and audio creation tools. Working knowledge of core social media strategy and analytics programs (i.e., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, YouTube Studio, etc.) Demonstrated understanding of emerging media trends, including the role of AI in digital communication and the evolving future of media industries. Commitment to fostering experiential learning, diversity, and student success. Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, or journalism. Evidence of success in building partnerships or experiential learning programs. Evidence of leadership experience within digital media industries Demonstrated ability to bring entrepreneurial energy and innovation to professional contexts.
