The School of Communication and Journalism at Eastern Illinois University seeks an individual to fill the role of tenure track assistant professor in the Division of Communication Studies. Candidates should have teaching and research expertise in the areas of interpersonal and/or organizational communication. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Communication Studies undergraduate major and graduate program. Opportunities for summer employment exist for candidates who have interest in teaching online. Departmental committee and service assignments, research/creative activities, and professionally related service are expected.
The School of Communication and Journalism houses academic divisions devoted to Communication Studies and ACEJMC-accredited Journalism. We are comprised of 16 tenured/tenure-track and nine annually contracted faculty. The school offers five undergraduate degree programs in Communication Studies, Health Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and TV & Video Production along with a master's degree in Communication Studies and an online graduate program in Communication and Leadership. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Communication by the start of employment (ABD will be considered) Evidence of excellent teaching Ability to teach a variety of classes in the Communication Studies major and graduate program Clear research agenda with high relevance to Interpersonal or Organizational Communication Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach online
