Job Description

This position is in the office 100% of the time. The role will be to assist senior design personnel in developing and completing designs and contract documents for the design of Solar and Wind projects. Typical work includes preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans for structural steel and reinforced concrete, with a strong emphasis on steel design, connections, and foundation design.

Duties

Review and interpretation of geotechnical reports and load test results (including GTC-type reports) to support foundation and structural design. Review, interpretation, and application of relevant structural design codes and guidelines. Development of analytical models for steel structures, foundations, and connections. Use of commercially available structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA, SAP2000, STAAD, RAM) and tools developed in-house. Design of steel structures and steel connections, with secondary focus on reinforced concrete as required. Participation in foundation design, including drilled shafts, spread footings, and other foundation systems; LPile experience is a plus. Preparation of drawings and details in coordination with CAD/BIM staff; experience in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Revit (nice to have). Establish and maintain schedules and provide progress reports on work performed. Proactively work toward obtaining and maintaining FE/EIT certification (FE is required, or in active process to obtain it; PE licensure in the future is a must). Support the Energy Practice structural department in developing new areas of business within the solar, wind, and substation markets. Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills)

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Approximately 2-3 years of experience in structural engineering design (solar, wind, industrial, or similar preferred). Fundamental Engineer (FE/EIT) certification required, or candidate must be actively in process of obtaining it in the upcoming 6 months Demonstrated experience in structural design and analysis software, including spreadsheet-based tools and finite element programs (e.g., RISA, SAP2000, STAAD, RAM). Experience with LPile is a plus. Strong background in structural steel design and steel connections; experience in reinforced concrete design is also desirable. Ability to read, interpret, and apply geotechnical reports (including GTC-style reports) to foundation and structural design. Experience using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D; Revit experience is a plus (nice to have). Familiarity with applicable structural design codes and guidelines (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and related standards). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Solid skills in planning and scheduling, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making. Self-motivated, technically proficient, and team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier Competencies

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally, uses the advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
