Job Description
The Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, and Technologies. We seek applications from candidates with expertise bridging Writing, Rhetoric, and Technologies who are prepared to teach rhetoric and writing alongside emerging technical skills such as artificial intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation, content management, and digital writing environments.
The ideal candidate will have a significant role in creating an interdisciplinary major in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technologies. We envision this program to meet the emerging labor demands of disruptive technologies in the context of a humanities degree that imparts skills such as interpretation, creativity, problem-solving, empathy, and cultural understanding. We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong history of interdisciplinary scholarship, teaching, and research.
We seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the needs of a varied student body in the context of an open-enrollment public university. The teaching load is typically 12 credits per semester.
Job Duties
Expectations for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, engaging in research, providing service to the department, college, and university, and a demonstrated commitment to student success. Candidates will be expected to teach first-year courses in composition and courses in our WRT emphasis such as: ENGL 4110 (Content Management) ENGL 3120 (Foundations of Professional & Technical Writing) ENGL 3130 (Digital Writing Technologies) Required Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. in Composition, Rhetoric, or Writing Studies with an emphasis in technology, multimodality, information design, or a related field by July 1, 2026 Two (2) or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level Experience developing courses in technology and writing (e.g., content management systems, AI writing, retrieval augmented generation) Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments Interest in developing cross-disciplinary collaborations, interdisciplinary courses, and programs A successful candidate will be willing to
