Job Title: Instructional Assistant

FLSA Status:

NON-EXEMPT

Salary Range: $25,060-$30,200

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED; additional education and/or training desirable.

Possess or qualify for a New Mexico Level 3 Educational Assistant License

Skills/Aptitudes:

Good organizational ability; good written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters.

Essential Job Responsibilities of Instructional Assistant (Educational):

Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators. Demonstrates ethical behavior. Follows district policies and administrative rules and regulations. Follows District Code of Conduct policies. Maintains behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties. Maintains a suitable personal appearance as it relates to position. Displays a desire to work with students. Serves as a role model. Works as a team member. Communicates effectively both verbally and written. Assists licensed personnel in school environment where individual differences are respected. Responds to students as individuals. Maintains cohesiveness in school environment. Assists with supplementary work for students, and supervises study in the school environment. Uses current technology for instructional management needs. Assists licensed personnel with student discipline. Assists in maintaining students' involvement in appropriate tasks. Provides assistance with individualized program materials. Works under supervision of certified teacher(s), prepares for classroom activities. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. Assists individual children in need of special attention. Guides study, enrichment and/or remedial work setup by the teacher(s). Set up audiovisual equipment as directed. Assists in drill work. Assists with reading and/or storytelling. Assists small groups of students in the library and other settings. Participates in in-service training programs. Contributes to the welfare and effectiveness of the classroom(s), the school, and the district by adhering to high standards of performance and interpersonal relationships. Model acceptable social skills in working with students, teachers, parents, and supervisors. Report unsafe or dangerous surfaces and/or conditions in hallways, restrooms, playgrounds, entrances, and classrooms. Performs other job duties as assigned.
