General Description: Provides supplemental aids and services, including instruction in Braille to enable students who have a visual disability, to progress in the general curriculum and advance appropriately toward attaining annual IEP goals. Qualifications:
Ohio Department of Education Teacher's Certification/Licensure in Vision Impairments Training and experience in teaching students with Vision Impairments and working effectively with educators and families Satisfactory result of BCI/FBI background checks Main Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provides instruction and consultation services to VI students Provides consultation to district staff and families Attends IEP meetings Selects and develops instructional materials and equipment Serves as a liaison between district staff and other agencies Serves as a resource to staff on issues related vision impairments. Conducts comprehensive assessments of students Evaluates student progress Keeps abreast of techniques and innovations in the assigned position via attendance and pertinent training. Responds constructively to supervision Participates in Team meetings, Staff Development Manages time to accomplish duties and implements strategies to deal with completing work priorities. Maintains records, collects outcome results Develops and follows an accurate schedule of services Complete reports and other documents, as needed Abilities
Required:
Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a positive work attitude. Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills. Completes paperwork accurately. Verifies and correctly enters data and computer documentation. Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
