Closing Date: Open Until Filled Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term substitute Library Media Specialist for Gales Ferry School. The Long-Term substitute will perform all of the responsibilities of a Library Media Specialist. This position is expected to begin on or around January 2026 and continue through mid-April (based on the needs of the district).
Qualifications:
Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential Understand social and emotional adjustments of students Successful teaching experience preferred Ability to work with a diverse student population Responsibilities:
Plan and teach classes on topics such as information literacy, library instruction, and technology use Teach students basic computer skills, such as searching computerized databases Review and evaluate materials, using book reviews, catalogs, faculty recommendations, and current holdings to select and order print, audio-visual, and electronic resources Collaborate with grade level/classroom teachers in the development and implementation of cross-disciplinary projects or learning experiences Promote literacy by creating opportunities and events that include students, families, and staff Check books in and out of the library Keep up-to-date records of circulation and materials, maintain inventory, and correct cataloging errors Search standard reference materials, including online sources and the Internet, to answer students' reference questions Code, classify, and catalog books, publications, audio-visual aids, and other library materials based on subject matter or standard library classification systems Assemble and arrange display materials Serve as a resource to the school community The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. Required:
Bachelors degree with 12 credits in the content/area to be taught Appropriate CT teaching certification
Pay: The daily rate for substitute teachers is $130. Please note for long term substitute positions (40+ days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $278.61 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.. To Apply:
