QFI is a US based organization committed to advancing the value of teaching and learning Arabic as a global language. QFI works to increase access to research-informed Arabic instruction for educators and students.
QFI works to foster and encourage the study of Arabic as a global language by supporting the professionalization of Arabic teaching and research-informed methodology and practices. With more than a decade of experience working in the Americas, the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe, QFI has established networks of educators, administrators, students, researchers, and other experts in language learning. With Arabic language programs more prominent at the university level, the number of Arabic education programs offered at the primary and secondary level has not changed much, providing an opportunity for QFI to position Arabic as a global language that is taught at an earlier age.
Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Director, Communications and External Affairs. The primary responsibilities will be to serve as QFI’s lead storyteller, help shape the organization’s narrative and produce high-impact content that elevates QFI’s mission, visibility, and thought leadership.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Help to develop a comprehensive editorial strategy aligned with QFI’s communications goals and programmatic priorities.
Ensure consistent execution of the strategy with a focus on timeliness, accuracy, clarity, and strategic alignment.
Serve as QFI’s principal writer, shaping the organization’s tone, voice, and narrative across all content platforms.
Establish and uphold editorial standards and internal content guidelines to ensure quality, consistency, and brand integrity.
Content Development and Storytelling
Research, write, and edit long- and short-form content including blog posts, op-eds, press releases, case studies, messaging, newsletters, brochures, and website copy.
Lead storytelling campaigns that highlight Arabic language learning, educator impact, and QFI’s strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to extract and shape compelling stories from programmatic work.
Strategic Communications
Contribute to integrated communications campaigns and cross-platform messaging strategies.
Adapt and refine content based on performance data, stakeholder feedback, and evolving priorities.
Ensure all content reflects QFI’s brand identity, values, and commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive communication.
Project and Workflow Management
Manage multiple editorial projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
Coordinate with designers, vendors, and other contributors to produce high-quality publications and digital content.
Help to maintain editorial calendars and ensure timely delivery of content across channels.
Professional Development and Industry Engagement
Stay informed on trends in second-language learning, global education, and nonprofit communications.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance writing, editing, and strategic communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
These qualifications must be demonstrable through experience, portfolio, or direct assessment:
Proven ability to develop and implement editorial strategies for mission-driven organizations.
Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing across formats (e.g., op-eds, blogs, press releases, executive messaging).
Experience leading storytelling initiatives and managing editorial workflows.
Strong understanding of tone, voice, and brand alignment in written communications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and editorial planning tools.
Experience with CRM systems and email marketing platforms.
Arabic reading and/or writing skills a plus.
Experience in global education, second-language acquisition, or nonprofit digital communications a plus.
Requirements
Experience
Minimum of 5 years in professional writing, journalism, editorial strategy or content development.
Education
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in English, Communication, or a related field.
