Overview

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is looking for a full‑time Communications Operator to operate the hospital switchboard on day/evening shifts with rotating weekends.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Answer queries, process, and direct incoming and outgoing calls.
• Sends regular emergency conference visiting hours information via intercom and beeper.
• Uses terminals to obtain patient and doctor information in accordance with department standards.
• Records and reports all issues with visitors, patients, and telephones to the proper authority.
• Directs all visitors, callers, and staff to their proper destination.
• Maintains records of house staff sign‑in/out, pager coverage, and on‑call schedules.
• Maintains current telephone list of attending doctors, beeper numbers, house staff, and supervisory personnel.

Minimal Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Approximately six months of switchboard and/or receptionist related duties required.
• Verbal and written communication, typing skills.
• Strong customer service skills.

Compensation

USD $18.00 - $29.74 per hour.
