Adjunct Faculty, Non-Credit, Music – Inside Higher Ed

Position at Inside Higher Ed invites qualified applicants to join the faculty as an Adjunct in the Non-Credit Music program.

Pre‑requisites for Position (Qualification Standards)

An equivalent or applicable combination of education and/or experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including teaching in continuing or community education settings.

Non‑credit Community Education compensation is based on Pay Levels ranging from 1‑5; a new faculty’s Pay Level is determined by the campus supervisor and ranges $20‑$60 per hour, based on expertise and instructional experience.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred.

Essential Duties

  • Teach course load as assigned.
  • Prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved outcomes.
  • Develop a professional relationship with students and staff to encourage communication.
  • Assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
  • When agreed upon, assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
  • Represent the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and district by promoting a positive public image.
  • Complete all required annual CMC training courses (e.g., Title IX, Digital Accessibility, and Data Security and Privacy).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Regular faculty will report to the campus non‑credit Community Education coordinator or its designee.

Working Conditions

Position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling of objects up to 50 lbs.; frequent reaching with hands/arms; and use of finger movements. Constant written and oral communication and occasional reasoning, analysis, and calculation are required. Work involves daily computer use and standard office equipment, with occasional vehicle operation.
