WESH 2 News, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Orlando, is looking for a self-motivated news photojournalist prepared to hustle and win the day. The role captures compelling stories in Central Florida’s dynamic environment, producing high‑quality video and audio in a deadline‑driven newsroom. Candidates must be tech‑savvy, proficient in modern visual media, and skilled in shooting, editing, and executing live shots for multiple stories. An excellent eye for video and the highest journalistic standards are required.

Job Description

We seek a highly skilled individual eager to capture the essence of what’s happening in Central Florida—an area filled with theme parks, space launches on the Space Coast, and miles of beaches—and to tell compelling stories through video and audio in a deadline‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shooting and editing of VOs, VO‑SOTs, and packages for broadcast air and digital via Sony XDCAM, Canon lenses, GoPro, iPhone, and Adobe Premiere.
  • Working with the Assignment Desk and reporters to cover daily stories.
  • Gathering video and still pictures for digital platforms.
  • Coordinating with reporters and producers to ensure quality content and accurate facts.
  • Collaborating with producers to execute creative vision with vivid video and natural sound.
  • Communicating incoming video elements from the field to the Assignment Desk and editors.
  • Cataloging and locating necessary video elements.
  • Producing and publishing content to online platforms.
  • Flexibility with weekend and holiday scheduling.

Requirements

  • Capacity to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Efficient operation of ENG trucks.
  • Drone certification, satellite‑truck, and helicopter experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Large‑vehicle operation and a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Exceptional digital‑editing skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization.
  • Self‑starter with initiative.
  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Computer and software proficiency.
  • Previous newsroom experience preferred.
  • Related military experience considered.
  • Military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) considered.
