Description The Proposal Writer will apply proven federal proposal writing expertise and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and proposal teams, drafting compelling, compliant proposals. They will support drafting, messaging, and quality improvement across a range of proposals and special projects, delivering high‑quality, compliant proposals within tight proposal cycles as an integral member of the proposal team. Leveraging deep knowledge of solicitation documents and customer preferences, the Proposal Writer will enhance narrative responsiveness and help capture teams translate and message complex ideas. The Proposal Writer will join the expanding Proposal Writing team in LM Space Proposal Operations, collaborating with Proposal Managers, Creative Services staff, and AI specialists. Candidates are expected to be local to one of the four locations listed. Candidates will primarily work remotely, but will be required to be onsite for certain proposal development activities. Primary Responsibilities Co‑author and lead assigned volumes or sections for RFPs, RFIs, and assignments, providing expert writing support as needed. Partner with capture and business development teams to craft compelling narratives that reflect LM’s value propositions and strategic goals. Collaborate with the Proposal Operations team to provide seamless, high‑quality proposal support. Develop and provide proposal writing trainings to proposal teams. Support proposal writing tool and process development. Basic Qualifications Proposal writing experience for federal solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, etc.), including technical, management, and past‑performance volumes, with comfort across most mechanisms and proposal structures. Solid understanding of the federal proposal acquisition process and FAR/DFARS, evaluation criteria, and ensuring narrative responsiveness. Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships on diverse, cross‑functional teams, including during tight proposal cycle timelines. Exceptional written and oral communication skills; meticulous attention to detail, high narrative quality standards, and the capacity to translate complex ideas into clear, customer‑focused narratives. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to acquire and retain a TS/SCI clearance. Desired Skills Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry. Formal training or certifications in federal proposal writing, capture, or business development (e.g., Shipley). Experience using generative AI tools and historical proposal databases to accelerate content creation. Background in related proposal development roles, such as Proposal Manager or Capture Manager. Current TS/SCI security clearance. Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. Clearance level: TS/SCI. Ability to acquire and retain TS/SCI clearance at the time of hire. Remote Work & Schedule Full‑time remote telework from a non‑Lockheed Martin office location. The employee may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings. Schedule: 9x80 with every other Friday off. Pay Rate & Benefits Annual base salary range (for most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York: $98,300 – $170,315; for other states: $85,400 – $150,650). Salary reflects location, scope, and responsibilities of the position.
