Water/Wastewater EIT/Designer (Hydraulic Modeling)
Join HDR as a Water/Wastewater Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Designer focused on hydraulic modeling. This role supports projects in North Carolina and South Carolina, and may be based in our offices in Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Asheville, or Greenville.
In this position you will develop and calibrate hydraulic models for water distribution, sanitary sewer collection, and water reuse systems; perform GIS data analysis, alternatives analysis, preliminary engineering, cost analysis, and capital project development; client interaction in project meetings and presentations; report writing; and proposal scope development. You may also have task-level responsibility for project teams, mentoring, and quality assurance/control activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (or willingness to obtain it)
Two or more years of progressive experience in utility hydraulic modeling and infrastructure engineering design
MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field (plus)
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, mapping and analysis
Knowledge and experience with software such as InfoAsset Planner, Python, R, Tableau, PowerBI or similar
Task management experience with increasing responsibility
Knowledge and experience with wastewater collection system and/or water distribution system hydraulic modeling software
Willingness to learn and grow technical and professional skills
Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team environment, with excellent organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication skills and proactive teamwork
Experience with public, municipal, or investor-owned utilities, or consulting firms (beneficial)
Experience working with clients in North Carolina and South Carolina
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
Interest or experience analyzing and designing water-focused systems
Experience with production, simulation, and automation such as BIM systems, numerical modeling platforms, and other production tools
Microsoft Office experience
Ability to work in a team environment
