Job Summary
As a Packaging Designer you will:
- Manage design specifications and approval of outsourced design
- Manage Engineering Change process (ECNs)
- Provide packaging technical expertise to the Business Unit, including other designers
- Review and assess solutions to verify against structural requirements, method of transport, long‑term storage and other specifications
- Assist in sourcing (design, specifications)
- Product development
- Conduct product evaluations
- Perform distribution & field packaging audits (Flow Review)
- Provide sufficient information and support to enable Technicians to produce detailed design drawings suitable for construction
- Create CAD drawings, assembly instructions and material lists
- Perform special engineering project assignments with minimum supervision
- Serve as final project feasibility analyst and provide rationale for project rejection
- Assist in understanding material specifications and possible replacement materials as needed
- Design packaging solutions while utilizing NeFab products and/or sourced materials
- Conduct computer simulations
- Utilize economic analysis tools to inspire cost‑take‑out strategies
- Revise and approve design documentation in all relevant systems
- Keep up to date with production flow and issues as well as project pipeline
- Continuous personal development of a niche competence in both a specific material and specific business segment
- Adhere to ISO 9001 and 14001 policies and procedures
Main Responsibilities
- Perform R&D continuously and on demand as requested
- Visit customers with sales personnel to review technical aspects of customers
- Visit suppliers as needed and requested by Sourcing
- Support the Global Design Engineering Team with Global Key Accounts as requested by the Global Technical Coordinator and Regional Manager
- Document internal and external design process for all projects
- Support the related Sales and Sourcing projects as well as design solutions
- Revise and approve design documentation in all relevant systems
- Keep up to date with production flow and issues as well as project pipeline
- Continuous personal development of a niche competence
- Adhere to ISO 9001 and 14001 policies and procedures
Requirements
- CAD experience (IronCAD, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or NX/Unigraphics)
- Bachelor’s degree in a design or mechanical related field (Engineering, Packaging, etc.) or equivalent education and experience
- 2‑5 years of experience in a relevant engineering/design role
- Experience working with corrugated materials required
- Korean speaking is a plus
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings/documents
- Proven ability to project manage effectively
Strong Corrugate Knowledge
Experience and deep knowledge of corrugated packaging materials and design principles.
