Job Summary:

The Technical Writer will edit and develop high-quality safety documentation that supports organizational compliance and ensures frontline workers can easily access and understand critical information. This role requires strong writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical and safety concepts into clear, concise, and accessible content for operational teams. The writer will collaborate with subject matter experts to refine materials, maintain consistency, and uphold high standards of accuracy and usability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Edit existing Code of Safe Practices manual and create additional safety content as needed to maintain compliance for employees, contractors, customers, and the public.
  • Gather information from internal and external stakeholders to develop accurate, concise, and technically sound documentation.
  • Present complex safety information in a clear, easy-to-understand format tailored for frontline workers.
  • Ensure documentation meets high standards of grammar, formatting, and technical accuracy.
  • Develop flowcharts and organizational charts (iGrafx preferred; Visio acceptable).
  • Produce highly polished, user-focused content with strong attention to detail, layout, and information design.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and SharePoint to build and manage documentation.
  • Apply strong content planning, design, and strategy methods aligned with safety and compliance practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, leaders, and content owners to gather insights and complete documentation.
  • Support remote work requirements; occasional onsite meetings (approx. 5%) in San Ramon.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and documentation standards (GDM standards).
Required Experience:
  • BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of Technical Writing, content management, or process improvement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience producing a high volume of technical documents with consistent quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation technologies.
  • Familiarity with safety-related policies and company documentation standards (GDM).
Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Experience writing for frontline workers in utility, energy, or safety environments.
  • Understanding of safety compliance programs.
  • Experience with iGrafx for flowchart development.
  • Prior experience in complex policy or safety documentation environments.
