Responsibilities
Identify strategic and creative PR opportunities to develop multi-channel PR campaigns that engage key external audiences, including patients, physicians, thought leaders, media, and the public at both the national level and across City of Hope regions. Lead an integrated planning process and drive the execution of communications initiatives, such as awareness campaigns, key organizational projects, and major City of Hope campaigns. Translate scientific research into clear, accessible narratives for external audiences, and may serve as a media liaison at medical conferences. Support the execution of a comprehensive thought leadership and executive visibility strategy through earned and sponsored events, media opportunities, awards, and other channels. Serve as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and subject matter experts, preparing them for speaking engagements and developing speeches and briefing materials. Support a media relations program that strengthens relationships with top-tier national, trade, and regional media to enhance visibility and position City of Hope as a leading voice in cancer research and care. Assist in developing media strategies, crafting news releases, managing freelance writers and agency support, newsjacking, creating compelling pitches, media training subject matter experts, and producing contributed content to drive impactful coverage. Collaborate with teams across the organization to develop and execute initiatives that align with overall goals. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree. 7+ years prior experience with corporate communications, preferably in the health care field or another dynamic and regulated industry. Proven ability to set a vision, lead and manage wide-scale initiatives and teams on delivery of quality work. PR agency experience preferred. Experience with health care, biotech and scientific communications, and experience in large, matrixed organizations preferred.
