Senior Real-Time Graphics Specialist - Spectrum News Join us as a Senior Real-Time Graphics Specialist at Spectrum News, a division of Charter Communications. In this role, you will build and support After Effects and Premier Pro templates, manage real-time graphic systems, and collaborate with creative and technical teams to deliver high‑quality graphics for live news and sports broadcasts. Key Responsibilities Develop and troubleshoot real‑time graphic templates and augmented reality graphics across multiple platforms. Support and maintain graphic systems, including software, plugins, and hardware, ensuring optimal performance. Collaborate with Art Directors, Technical Creative Team, Graphics Operators, Production Operations Management, and Engineering to integrate new graphics into insert packages, virtual set systems, and augmented reality systems. Create and maintain workflows that accommodate various newsroom configurations and data feed integrations. Lead cross‑functional integrations from a graphic perspective and define on‑air graphics workflows. Mentor and train other real‑time graphic specialists on all platforms. Engage in discussions on data feeds and develop workflows that impact graphic templates on all platforms. Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting a dynamic, fast‑paced broadcast environment. Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge Proficient in template building with Chyron, VizRt, Zero Density, and After Effects. Experience creating augmented reality graphics using Unreal, VizRt, and Zero Density. Knowledge of SQL, XML, Microsoft Excel databases, and data integration. Familiarity with television production equipment, studio procedures, Photoshop, After Effects, CAMIO, VitRt, and Zero Density workflows. Strong and verbal communication skills; ability to convey requests and ideas to editors, designers, and talent. Experience with scripting (JavaScript, Visual Basic, XML, JSON, XPRESSO) and advanced expression building within After Effects. Ability to work efficiently under high‑pressure conditions and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. Team‑oriented, collaborative mindset with a focus on increasing production value. Fluency in on‑air show packaging and insert graphic elements. Continuous self‑development and a passion for training others. Additional required knowledge of template building and expressions within After Effects at an advanced level. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Work Experience Minimum 5+ years of experience with graphics systems in news or sports environments. Experience working in a control room supporting various production types, including news, sports, and remote broadcasts. Preferred Skills & Knowledge HTML5 knowledge. Extensive expression and template building experience in After Effects. Familiarity with Dalet production workflow. Working Conditions Office environment with occasional on‑site presence for equipment troubleshooting. Flexible scheduling, including extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and “breaking news” coverage. Travel up to 15% when applicable. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
