Job Description

Hourly Rate: $20 per hour

The Library Assistant will assist on various projects such as creating and cataloging images and videos for databases and collecting and entering data into an Electronic Resource System. This position will also provide reference services and circulation desk coverage. The candidate must be able to work on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. This position is a 9‑hour per week position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and cataloging images and videos for databases.
  • Collect and enter data into an Electronic Resource System.
  • Provide reference services.
  • Serve at the circulation desk.
  • Work Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.

Qualifications

  • Work Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite.
  • Experience with spreadsheet software (Sheets, Excel, etc.).
  • Background in libraries.
  • Flexibility and desire to participate in collaborative problem‑solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to sit for long periods, move books and packages, and distinguish color.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in visual arts.
  • Experience with WordPress.
  • Experience with digital asset management tools such as JStor Forum and Resource Space.
  • Experience with cataloging standards, VRA Core 4.0, CCO, the Getty Vocabularies.

Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Proof of identity and employment eligibility must be shown within three (3) days of the start of employment.
