Job Summary
WMTV 15 News needs a News and Digital Content Producer to elevate the station’s #1 morning newscast and support a digital‑first strategy across all platforms. The producer will create, coordinate, and showcase content for on‑air, website, social, apps, OTT, and streaming.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Report to and collaborate closely with the News Director, Assistant News Director, and Executive Producer to shape and execute digital‑first strategy.
- Act with urgency and immediacy; research and write copy daily, publishing on television, WMTV15News.com, and social media.
- Identify opportunities for live streaming, user‑generated content, and push alerts to broaden reach.
- Ensure story selection and placement in the rundown meet journalistic standards and WMTV brand pillars.
- Understand the local DMA, key audiences, and demographic distribution.
- Produce engaging, error‑free work with keen attention to detail.
- Communicate and collaborate professionally with colleagues to enhance viewer experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- College degree in journalism or related field preferred.
- At least one year of newsroom or digital producing experience.
- Positive attitude, desire to win, and ability to reflect on feedback.
- Strong research, critical thinking, and time‑management skills; able to multitask under deadline pressure.
- Established presence on digital and social platforms.
- Working knowledge of CMS and digital tools (ARC, Social News Desk, CrowdTangle). Photoshop experience a plus.
- Understanding of and adherence to AP Style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Flexibility to work different hours and shifts as needed.
