Purpose of the Role

The Visual Furniture Display Designer creates compelling, on-floor furniture vignettes and in-store visual presentations that enhance product appeal and inspire customers. This role is hands-on and active, focusing on physical showroom staging, not graphic design. Responsibilities include designing, arranging, and maintaining furniture and accessory displays throughout the showroom, ensuring visual consistency, style, and strong presentation standards.

Work independently to design and stage furniture vignettes throughout the showroom.

Delegate tasks to dock/warehouse staff and collaborate with other visual team members during major floor resets.

Review daily floor conditions and incoming merchandise transfers to determine product placement and display needs.

Maintain and refresh showroom displays on a weekly basis to reflect current inventory, trends, and sold product movement.

Accessorize displays with décor, wall art, lighting, rugs, greenery, and other accent pieces.

Communicate daily with the Visual Merchandise Manager, Store Managers, and Merchandise Manager through the Critique Sheet.

Assist dock personnel with receipt, placement, and movement of furniture to support display needs.

Direct dock/warehouse personnel regarding product flow, placement, and staging requirements.

Prioritize multiple tasks to ensure assigned projects are completed efficiently and on time.

Participate as part of the design team in staging and setting up new or remodeled showroom locations.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Hours / Schedule

Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm

Required Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to create three-dimensional visual displays and merchandise staging (furniture, accessories, décor).

Strong understanding of interior styling and spatial layout.

Excellent communication and listening skills.

Basic reading, numerical reasoning, and computer skills.

Ability to complete paperwork accurately and efficiently.

Creativity, strong attention to detail, and ability to adapt quickly to evolving showroom needs.

Physical Demands

Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 100+ lbs (furniture, décor, props).

Frequent standing, walking, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders.

Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers.

Ability to read documents and computer screens.

Ability to use hands for computer work and basic hand tools.

Must be able to paint displays, hang wall décor, and place signage.

Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1+ year of experience in visual merchandising, showroom staging, furniture retail, or related visual design fields highly preferred.

A degree in Interior Design is highly preferred; equivalent experience or education in art/design is also valuable.

Must have a reliable vehicle and ability to travel up to 75% of the time within a 50-mile radius.
