The Library Circulation Technician works cooperatively with the librarians to provide quality services to students, faculty, staff, and the community. This position provides exceptional customer service at the service desk assisting patrons with circulation, basic reference, and technology questions. This position assists the librarians, and helps to maintain a safe, secure, and positive library environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Min Salary
$35,456.80

Mid Salary
$39,888.90 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.

Education Required
  • Associate's degree from an institutionally accredited college.
Education Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an institutionally accredited college/university.
Experience Required
  • One year of experience working in an academic library.
  • One year of experience working in a library with circulation, interlibrary loan, or public services.
Experience Preferred
  • Greater than one year of experience working in an academic library.
  • Greater than one year of experience working in a library with circulation, interlibrary loan, or public services.
  • Experience working in a community college library.
  • Experience using a library management system, such as OCLC -WMS.
  • Experience using a student information system, such as Datatel Colleague and Moodle.
  • Proficiency/fluency in a second language.
KSA Required
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
  • Strong verbal skills and personable manner in dealing with the public in-person and virtually.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written formats.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to reconcile the cash drawer.
  • Able to handle customers while providing high standards of efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
KSA Preferred
  • Proficient computer skills.
Department/Job Specific Requirements

  • File and shelve according to the Dewey Decimal System.
  • Serve on college committees as assigned.
  • Participate in job-related workshops and training to enhance job performance.
  • Attend departmental meetings and the college's All Personnel meetings.
  • Must be able to get to other offices, buildings, campus locations and off-site locations as necessary to complete requirements of the job.

  • Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
