Position Overview

The Fire Protection Designer is responsible for designing and developing fire protection systems that ensure safety and compliance with fire codes and standards. This role involves collaborating with clients and engineering teams to create effective fire suppression solutions for various environments, including industrial and commercial settings.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and design fire protection systems including fire alarms, suppression systems, and special hazard systems.

Conduct site assessments to gather information on fire protection needs and requirements.

Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD software.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure design intent is met throughout the project lifecycle.

Review and interpret fire codes and standards to ensure compliance in designs.

Perform hydraulic calculations and system analysis to optimize fire protection systems.

Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning of fire protection systems.

Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in fire protection design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology is preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire protection design or related field.

Proficiency in CAD software and fire protection design tools.

Strong knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulations.

Experience with fire suppression systems and special hazards systems.

Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
