What You Will Be Doing
Design Vision and Standards (Platform‑Wide): Articulate the overarching design vision, standards, and operating model for the entire Product Design team, ensuring processes and team structure are optimized to drive platform‑wide experience consistency and business outcomes.
Organizational Health & Scaling: Take responsibility for the overall organizational structure, talent acquisition, and professional development of the design team. Ensure the team has the necessary skills, structure, and headcount to deliver a world‑class experience across the entire DataRobot product portfolio.
Cross‑Domain Alignment: Drive and own alignment across major product domains (e.g., build, govern and deploy capabilities), ensuring all product areas contribute harmoniously to a cohesive and elegant end‑to‑end user experience.
Strategic Design Practice Development: Act as a recognized thought leader in the ML/AI design space, defining and driving the strategic development of core design practices, the centralized design system, and global research operations.
Executive Advocacy and Influence: Represent Product Design to the executive leadership team and advocate for design thinking as a core process to solve complex business and technical challenges across all company capabilities.
Business Impact: Accountable for demonstrating the impact of design initiatives on key business metrics, such as user adoption, usage frequency, and customer retention, ensuring design creates a sustainable competitive advantage for DataRobot.
Design Culture & Identity: Actively shape the design team’s identity and culture, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing environment that attracts and retains top talent.
Mentorship and Growth: Cultivate the growth and career paths of design leaders (Directors and Principal Designers), ensuring they are equipped to scale their respective teams and product areas.
Company Values: Model and champion DataRobot’s core values, proactively contributing to cross‑domain team culture and company‑wide strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years in Product Design, with at least 3+ years in senior management (Director level or above) overseeing large, distributed, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Domain Expertise: Proven track record leading design for complex enterprise B2B software and a strong, practical understanding of AI/ML workflows and challenges.
Organizational Leadership: Demonstrated success in structuring, scaling, and optimizing a design team for maximum business impact and experience quality.
Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate and negotiate design strategy, resource allocation, and trade‑offs with C‑level and VP‑level Product and Engineering partners.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field.
