Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Marketing & Business Development Strategist supports and manages marketing and business development projects, particularly as they relate to the firm's regional presence in the West.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, communications or equivalent experience.

At least five years of marketing/communications and business development experience; professional services marketing a plus.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with attorneys and team members.

Expert-level computer experience, including advanced Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word skills.

Essential Functions

Business Development Strategy & Implementation (50%)

Practice Division: Serve as primary business development and marketing liaison to Practice Divisions and Subgroups as assigned. Support Practice Division chairs with creating and managing division priorities and budgets.

Business Development: Support the business development activities of attorneys including creation of marketing collateral, crafting pitches and proposals, handling directory submissions, conference preparations, sponsorships and other efforts to build strong client relationships.

Coaching: Coach attorneys on business growth planning, identifying cross‑serving opportunities, recognizing market opportunities and threats, and considering new service offerings.

Onboarding: Onboard new lateral attorneys and assist in their efforts to transition key client relationships to the firm and to become integrated within the firm.

Regional Marketing Involvement (30%)

Facilitates regional office marketing meetings and executes on ideas and plans.

Evaluates visibility enhancing options including partnerships with local associations and organizations to cultivate relationships with clients, prospects and referral sources.

Identifies media, public relations and award/nomination opportunities and activities for the regional office that promote the firm's experience and knowledge.

Drafts and supports the development of attorney bio content and regional marketing materials.

Event Coordination and Support (20%)

Collaborates with the events specialist to plan and host events and seminars with strong client engagement and attorney participation.

Develops and reviews invitation lists, tracks RSVPs, works with the attorneys to identify and pursue business development opportunities and follow‑up activities.

Assists in compiling and editing event presentation materials, including PowerPoints.

Develops materials and offers support for associations and conferences where the firm is sponsor or exhibitor.

Attends and provides on‑site support during events to manage registration and other on‑site logistics.

Organizes and maintains files and documents related to events.

Other

Support Firm‑wide strategic marketing and business development initiatives.

Completes other assignments and projects as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Travel to other office locations on occasion to attend meetings and assist with events.

Work Environment & Physical Demands This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the responsibilities of the position, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the person in this position will encounter. The employee may be required to work additional hours to complete work.

Physical demands: the employee is required to talk and hear, sit and use hands and fingers. The employee may occasionally stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision required: close vision.

Salary range: $100,000 – $140,000, based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
