This position is primarily remote. Candidates must be based in Maryland, Washington, DC, or Virginia with a requirement to come onsite an average of once per month for town halls and other critical meetings.

Overview & Responsibilities

Work with a leading firm in the healthcare/insurance industry, serving as a Communications Specialist focused on generalist duties within the Events and Conferences space. This role is crucial for providing a full range of communications support, from strategic planning to execution. You will be responsible for high-impact writing, editing, and managing communications projects that engage key stakeholders across the enterprise and our external health plan partners. While supporting events and conferences (like the annual conference and bi-monthly town halls) is a key part of the role, your day‑to‑day focus will be on core communications work, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and timely delivery.

You will…

Effectively write and edit clear, concise, and stylistically appropriate communications materials for various internal (all associate levels, including executives) and external audiences (health plans, providers, accounts, brokers).

Draft and edit a variety of communication products, including talking points, leadership communications, marketing copy, newsletter content, and website content.

Lead and manage all phases of the communication project life cycle, including monitoring progress, reviewing metrics, preparing documentation, and serving as a resource to leadership.

Act as a liaison across multiple areas to ensure project goals, scope, and progress are effective and efficient.

Work closely with Marketing, Sales, and external customers to communicate activities related to various audiences.

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies for communications materials, ensuring department standards and corporate compliance are met.

Provide logistical support for events and conferences (e.g., annual conference and town halls).

Required Qualifications

Minimum of three years of professional communications experience.

Significant, demonstrated writing and editing experience, including copy editing, for various business audiences.

Experience leading and managing the full communication project life cycle.

Ability to understand business objectives and engage key stakeholders through written communications.

Currently residing within the DMV and willing to travel to DC/Reston offices approximately once per month and for second-round in-person interview.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree.

Experience in the events and conferences space, providing logistical support.

Experience developing and maintaining SOPs and policies for communications materials.

Interest in the healthcare or technology industry.

Experience in a communications role for health plans (FEP, Blue Cross, Blue Shield plans).
