Overview We are looking for an experienced Instructional Designer who will work with the commercial organization of an Oil & Gas client to support early career development, commodity trading, and sales training programs. This role will assess and understand what content is needed, both digitally and in person, design and create the instructional elements needed for assigned programs and facilitate the use of designed instructional tools to ensure a successful launch and implementation for the program. In addition, the elements will need to be tested, refined and updated throughout the life of the assigned programs. Benchmarks and tracking mechanisms of user adoption and engagement will need to be set up and reported to program stakeholders.
This role will be executive facing and requires strong instructional design experience. This position will require extensive collaboration with Leadership and Development, Sales/Trading, Finance and other teams throughout the organization. This role requires the ability to gain advanced knowledge of assigned programs, functional disciplines and industry knowledge quickly. This position is a consulting project for 6 months+ and full time. This position is remote and will focus on CST hours primarily, although other time zones could be requested. Some travel may be required. Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and be able to work CST hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct training needs assessments and gather requirements from internal teams
Develop learning objectives that describe desired training objectives
Design training curriculum and learning plans to ensure performance objectives are met
Develop training materials including use of digital/web‑based platforms, presentations, hand‑outs, scenarios, exercises, and other documents
Develop instructor guide for Facilitator
Deliver training according to designed curriculum
Build materials from scratch and/or utilize vendor content as applicable
Travel to client organization sites to assess training needs and deliver training
Develop and implement training assessments to ensure knowledge and skill retention, user experience, engagement and adoption
Provide post‑training feedback and coaching as necessary
Communicate trainee performance to managers
Assist in developing any reference materials, KPIs, dashboards and reporting
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and digital/web‑based learning platforms
Participate with post training analysis, feedback and any necessary calibrations and edits
Build and maintain knowledge of instructional design and training best practices
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Education, or related discipline
Minimum of 4-5 years creating and delivering content in a highly technical environment
Experience with developing and administering trading/sales training programs
Knowledge of oil and gas or finance industries strongly preferred
Entry level knowledge of adult learning principles and new hire programs
Skilled in coordinating training efforts including scheduling classrooms, printing materials, accessing training databases, and using and troubleshooting training technology
Knowledge of how to conduct a training needs assessment
Basic knowledge of the curriculum development process including analysis, instructional design, developing outlines, learning objectives, materials, and assessments
Ability to communicate complex training content to participants, answer questions, and ensure understanding
Ability to facilitate and deliver digital/online, classroom, or one‑on‑one training
Advanced written and oral communication skills, including strong knowledge of PowerPoint and any learning tool platforms needed.
Coaching or Training certification is preferred
Compensation For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, Sand Cherry Associates is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and delivery model. This is a 6 month plus consulting engagement, with an hourly range of $55-75/hr. Years of experience, level of education, geographic location, unique skills/qualifications for the specific role and potential certifications can be key factors in the final compensation for this role.
