JOB SUMMARY:
Kentucky State University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor - Music Business and Studio Technology within the Bachelor of Arts in Music program. The instructor will teach courses and applied lessons related to music business, audio production, recording technology, and digital media creation. The instructor will contribute to curricular development, student mentoring, and recruitment efforts and will support program quality and continuous improvement in alignment with University and National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Music Business, Audio Production, and Studio Technology, using current industry practices and standards.
- Provide applied instruction in audio production and guide students in hands-on recording, editing, mixing, and digital content creation.
- Prepare students for juries, recitals, presentations, and portfolio-based assessments.
- Maintain and oversee instructional use of studio equipment, software, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and course materials that align with department expectations and NASM standards.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grading, and student progress.
- Engage in student support and outreach activities as requested.
- Collaborate with the Chair and Coordinator on assessment and accreditation documentation as needed.
- Strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate teaching and student development.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot studio hardware and software.
- Proficiency using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard).
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to support and work effectively with diverse student populations.
- This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in support of the academic program and institutional mission.
To qualify as an adjunct instructor at Kentucky State University, the individual must meet:
- A Master's degree in the teaching discipline, or
- A Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field
- Record of successful applied teaching at the college or secondary level preferred.
- Work is performed primarily on campus in instructional studios and performance spaces.
- Requires availability for weekly lessons, student juries, and departmental events as assigned.
- This is a temporary, part-time exempt position; no benefits are associated with adjunct appointments.
