We have received 60+ awards for editorial excellence over the past six years, including several awards for video content from the National Association of Real Estate Editors and the General Excellence award from the Society of Business Writers and Editors.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic growing content creator, proficient as a script writer, videographer and editor, comfortable being on camera, has sharp news sense, and is interested in gaining business journalism experience.

Base pay range

$70,000.00 / yr - $80,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

• Write, shoot, and edit 6-8 vertical format videos for The Real Deal’s social media platforms per week.
• Appear on camera in videos, accurately telling TRD’s news stories to our social media audience and representing the brand as a growing real estate expert.
• Work with TRD’s video and social leads to identify key stories and pull out the most exciting details to craft engaging video content.
• Write captions, create thumbnails, and analyze successes and missed opportunities among the Real Deal’s video stories.

Qualifications

• Background as a content creator and/or new media journalist.
• Write sharp and witty scripts based on news stories, identifying the best candidates for video among dozens of articles published each day on TheRealDeal.com.
• Excellent editing skills with high proficiency in Adobe Premiere or similar, including experience creating graphics and animations for short‑form video.
• Knowledgeable of trends in top video‑based social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok.
• Strong understanding of journalism fundamentals; knowledge of the real estate beat is helpful but not required.
• Submit your resume or CV along with 3-5 original videos that you have written, shot and produced.
