Phaxis Education is seeking a passionate and dynamic High School Music Teacher to join one of our partner schools in Washington, DC. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who loves fostering creativity, developing musical talent, and inspiring students through music education.

About the Role

The Music Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons in instrumental, vocal, and general music. The ideal candidate will help students develop technical skills, appreciation for the arts, and confidence through performance and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement curriculum for high school music classes (instrumental, vocal, general music).
• Prepare students for concerts, performances, and school-wide events.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and creative classroom environment.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues to support student success.
• Maintain classroom instruments, equipment, and music materials.
• Encourage participation in music programs, ensembles, and extracurricular opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (required).
• Active teaching certification or eligibility in DC (preferred).
• Experience teaching music in a school setting (middle or high school preferred).
• Strong instrumental and/or vocal background.
• Ability to manage a classroom, plan performances, and motivate students.
