Fox TV Stations owns and operates 29 full‑power broadcast television stations in the United States, located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas (DMAs) and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago). Eighteen of these stations are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment, and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week, leveraging viewer, distributor, and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.
Job Description
FOX 32 Chicago is looking for an innovative Reporter with a Content Creator mindset who can tell any story for any screen. We seek a storyteller who will report live daily on fun and exciting events happening in the greater Chicago area, working independently to produce compelling content. This is not a role where the assignment desk hands you a story every day; we look for an innovator who knows how to create great content and may also produce and host a daily program. We want someone who embraces new technology, thrives being live, showcases warmth and personality, and can ad‑lib excellently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work in concert with the News Managers to create daily live reports from fun and exciting locations across the greater Chicago area, pitching story ideas, setting up shoots and interviews, and communicating plans with producers.
- Collaborate with the News Management to develop concepts for scheduled streaming programs designed to maximize audience for the station’s content.
- Craft compelling local content to be delivered via the station’s platforms.
- Utilize technology to execute streaming of pre‑produced program content.
- Monitor incoming video feeds and stories of high local interest in conjunction with Assignment Editors.
- Appear on camera to host and introduce scheduled streaming programs; host and narrate live coverage of breaking news and scheduled news events presented in full on the station’s platforms.
- Participate in discussions about content strategy and planning for the station’s coverage.
- Ensure that all content meets the editorial standards of the FOX 32 newsroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be flexible in scheduling.

- Adobe Premiere Pro or a similar non‑linear editing system

- Proficiency in YouTube, Meta, TikTok, and other social media platforms
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience working as a reporter and/or anchor in a medium or large market (preferred). College degree in communications, journalism, or a related field preferred.
- Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices.
- Ability to tell stories, ask probing questions in Q&A with reporters, and ad‑lib effectively.
- Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events.
- Excellent people and communication skills; must be a team player.
- Strong language skills, proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and the ability to use conversational broadcast copy style efficiently under daily deadline pressure.
- Proficiency with video production technology, including non‑linear editing and video switching tools.
- Strong editorial judgment required.
- Excellent on‑camera delivery and communication skills required.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work productively while working independently.
- Able to prioritize and work under daily deadline pressure.
- Prior producing and editing skills a plus.

Pay and Benefits
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location, is $50.00–$51.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; insurance; a 401(k) plan; paid time off; and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for union‑represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
