Refactor Games is a AAA sports video game studio. We are developing the next generation of professional football (soccer) video games using Unreal Engine 5.

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Artist to help drive and implement our animation systems for our upcoming sports title. The ideal candidate has strong Unreal 5 development skills, a deep understanding of current game animation systems and their approaches, strong communication and collaboration skills, and a keen eye for visual results.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with animation, programming, and technical teams on the creation and tuning of in-game animation systems in Unreal 5
  • Refine animation pipelines with an eye for efficiency, visual results, and ease of use
  • Support animation team with tools and script support as needed
  • Provide feedback and improvement approaches to in-game features and aesthetics
  • Create in-game feature testbeds and support rapid system prototyping

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience creating animation state machines in Unreal engine or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience shipping high-performance console and/or PC titles
  • Strong understanding of modern game engine animation systems such as motion matching systems and state machines
  • Strong understanding of animation and rigging pipelines and software (Maya, Motion Builder)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across art and engineering disciplines
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Experience on sports titles
  • Appreciation of sports and sports games
  • Experience with Shotgrid, Jira, similar production tracking software
  • Experience with real-time broadcast presentation
  • Ability to author temp animations for test systems when needed
