Job Description
The Dallas Morning News is seeking a collaborative, creative and detail-oriented editor to help turbocharge our newsroom's visual reporting and multimedia storytelling.
The Deputy Director of Visual Journalism - Video will develop and execute a newsroom video strategy under the guidance of the director. This includes identifying beats and storylines that deserve video focus, and coordinating workflows across teams to ensure timely and impactful content.

On occasion, this editor will manage the day-to-day operations of the visuals department, including the daily assignment schedule. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with our Audience team to produce social videos for platform-specific storytelling on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other emerging platforms.

Having a collaborative mindset is key as you will work closely with your staff and editors across the newsroom.
Equally as important is having a strong commitment to leading with inclusiveness and diversity in our workplace and our coverage.
Our visuals team is focused on North Texas, but we do it all, from major league sports to severe weather, protests and everything in between.
You will report to the Director of Visual Journalism.

- Interpret and implement company and departmental policies to ensure adherence to management decisions
- Journalistic judgment, visual creativity, innovative thinking and attention to detail are important aspects of this work
