Job Description :

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture, and Entertainment - with signature wit, irreverence, and authority averaging 90 million unique monthly viewers. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television, and commerce.

The New York Post is looking for a National Reporter to help expand our digital coverage nationwide. The right candidate is an enterprising reporter who can dig up and break eye-popping original stories around the country -- and deliver them as authoritative reports in The Post's signature tabloid voice.

The ideal candidate must be self-sufficient, fast, full of ideas -- and the kind of person who's willing to knock on doors, work the phones, ask tough questions and do whatever else it takes to find and nail the story.

Responsibilities:

• Report and write breaking news and enterprise stories with speed and accuracy.

• Travel regularly to cover breaking news, investigations, and long-form enterprise pieces.

• Cover major developments across the US, including crime, politics, immigration, border enforcement, and cultural trends.

• Pitch and develop scoops and enterprise stories that drive the news cycle and attract national attention.

• Dig into public records and court documents, track down sources, and pursue stories aggressively.

• Work closely with editors and colleagues to brainstorm, develop, and package stories for maximum digital impact.

• Deliver clean, authoritative copy on deadline while maintaining The Post's fast-paced, tabloid style.

• Identify viral and nationally relevant angles in local stories.

Requirements:

• Minimum five years of experience in a major breaking news operation.

• Strong writer with proven ability to deliver compelling, clean copy under pressure.

• Demonstrated success in breaking news and developing enterprise reporting.

• Skilled at cultivating sources and navigating court records and complex issues.

• A strong roster of contacts on major national stories.

• Comfortable working in a digital-first environment with a keen eye for viral potential.

• Must live close to a major national airport and be willing and able to travel on short notice.

• Bilingual English-Spanish strongly preferred.

• An obsession with true crime stories is also strongly preferred.

• Willingness to travel nationally (and internationally) as stories demand.

• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required.

Note: while this position is remote-eligible, willingness and ability to travel is required.

At The New York Post we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, our ranges reflect our good faith estimate to pay fairly as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

In addition to compensation, the company provides eligible employees a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package, with a variety of physical health, retirement and savings, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and other benefits, including "elective" benefits employees may select to best fit the needs and personal situations of our diverse workforce.

As an equal opportunity employer, the New York Post does not discriminate in hiring or the terms and conditions of employment because of an individual's race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. The New York Post will consider the provision of reasonable accommodations to known physical or mental disabilities of otherwise qualified applicants to enable them to participate in our application process and to effectively perform the essential functions of the job, unless doing so would impose an undue financial or operational hardship.

Pay Range: $80,000 - $95,000
