UX Designer – Remote, Contract

Strong understanding of responsive design (touch/mobile design experience a plus), strong visual design acumen, experience with accessible design, able to work across large teams/multiple teams. Detail oriented, strong collaborator, agile, ability to work autonomously, ability to prioritize effectively, design system experience, fintech experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design application interfaces with a focus on workflow, integration, user interaction, and data visualizations, and proactively identify ways to improve processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with developers to translate designs into elegant user experiences.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships across departments and business areas.
  • Participate in walkthroughs to ensure quality and consistency of designs.
  • Own self‑development, staying current with UX techniques and tools, and demonstrate out‑of‑the‑box thinking.
  • Proactively and clearly communicate with all levels of leadership and varying stakeholder audiences, advocating for the end user.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Instructional Design, Computer Science preferred, or related work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience applying user experience principles to visual and interaction design.
  • Proficient in responsive design techniques, data visualization, and interaction design.
  • Proficient with rapid prototyping tools (e.g., InVision, Sketch, Balsamiq).
  • Good understanding of CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Foundation).
  • Proficient in visual design with solid understanding of typography, layout, and color theory.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Good interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills; presents ideas, thoughts, arguments, and information persuasively.
  • Ability to multi‑task and participate in multiple, large, and complex efforts.
  • Good attention to detail, and able to solve a range of design challenges with some guidance.
  • Responds well to direction, embraces feedback and change.
  • Proficient in understanding UX research methodologies.
  • Knowledgeable of HTML, CSS, and jQuery/JavaScript.

Job Type & Location

Contract position based out of Remote, OR.

Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $60.00 – $65.00/hr.
