About the Role We are seeking a Designer to support the design and documentation of high-quality residential and small-scale mixed-use projects. The role spans conceptual studies, design development, visualization, and documentation across a diverse project pipeline that includes: Low-rise residential buildings with modest commercial components Urban townhomes and townhome communities High-end single-family spec homes The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented designer with strong visual communication skills and an interest in development-driven design. Responsibilities Design & Documentation Assist with conceptual design studies, early planning exercises, and feasibility analyses. Produce diagrams, drawings, digital models, and visual materials supporting design development. Contribute to schematic design and design development packages under senior guidance. Support creation of construction documents (plans, elevations, sections, details). Maintain accurate, well-organized digital models, drawing files, and documentation. Develop high-quality graphics for internal reviews, investor presentations, and external approvals. Conduct precedent, materials, site, and basic code research. Coordinate with internal teams including development, acquisitions, and construction. Prepare visual content, diagrams, and presentation materials for internal and consultant meetings. Participate in team discussions and design reviews, clearly articulating design intent and questions. Support consultant coordination, including distributing updates and tracking outstanding information. Collaborate with senior designers and architects to align design work with broader development strategy. Deliverables & Quality Control Assist with materials for permitting, entitlements, and municipal submissions. Produce diagrams, renderings, and layout packages for project approvals and funding presentations. Contribute to detailed design packages, ensuring clarity and consistency. Organize project folders and drawing sets in accordance with firm standards. Support revisions, redlines, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements Required Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture 1–3+ years of professional architectural experience Strong graphic, digital, and visual communication skills Proficiency in 3D modeling and BIM (Revit, Rhinoceros, AutoCAD preferred) Ability to sketch and communicate ideas by hand Understanding of basic building systems, materials, and construction principles Strong organization and time-management abilities Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment Self-directed, motivated, and able to contribute across multiple projects Preferred Experience with residential design, housing typologies, or mixed-use concepts Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Experience with visualization tools (SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Twinmotion) Knowledge of zoning, building codes, or feasibility studies Progress toward architectural licensure (not required) This role is ideal for a designer who wants to make a meaningful impact within a small, highly collaborative development team.
