DealBook is looking for a wide-ranging Wall Street and deals reporter with deep sourcing, who can effortlessly connect with influential insiders and deliver scoops on major deals, powerful personalities, and financial trends.
You are a relentless newshound, adept at cultivating relationships that could include anyone from top executives to junior employees — including investment bankers, asset managers and traders. You have a track record of breaking stories and the confidence to get anyone—from CEOs to policymakers—on the phone at a moment's notice. You are a dynamo with a high-speed news metabolism who wants to write daily.
We want a storyteller who can go beyond the headlines, explaining financial maneuvers and market dynamics in clear, compelling prose. We are looking for curiosity, tenacity, discretion, and exceptional judgment, with a passion for revealing the personalities and strategies shaping Wall Street.
This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.
Responsibilities:
Cultivate and maintain a deep network of sources on Wall Street and in financial circles.
Break major news on deals, market shifts, regulatory actions, and industry trends.
Write engaging, insightful, and accurate articles under tight deadlines.
Deliver context and analysis, making financial news accessible and engaging for a sophisticated readership.
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
This role reports to an Editor on Dealbook.
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of experience covering Wall Street, finance, or related industries.
Demonstrated ability to quickly secure high-level interviews and exclusive information.
Strong writing skills with clarity, flair, and precision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent news judgment and ethical standards.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
