Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Scholarly Communication & Collections Services, the Collections and Content Management (C&CM) Librarian plays a vital role in managing a collections budget of $5.5M, institutional and special collections repository content, consortia memberships, and e‑resource access technologies. This highly collaborative role interfaces with colleagues across the Libraries, creating and implementing strategies for acquiring, managing, and providing access to scholarly content—including licensed, purchased, open‑access publications, research data, and more. The librarian will think broadly about collections, content discovery, and access models, exploring emerging acquisition and access areas, and supervise two exempt staff members in acquisitions and e‑resources.
Essential Functions
- Manage the Libraries collection budget.
- Prioritize collections acquisitions with a team of subject selectors and curators.
- Negotiate and manage large acquisitions and license agreements.
- Explore demand‑driven, evidence‑based, access‑to‑own, and other creative models with acquisitions staff.
- Directly supervise two exempt staff members responsible for acquisitions and e‑resources.
- Create, implement, and manage assessment cycles for collections.
- Represent the Library in consortia for collection‑related activities.
- Support open‑access and related scholarly communications issues.
- Participate on library and campus committees and attend regular meetings.
- Engage in scholarly activities through research, publication, and service to professional organizations.
- Fulfil promotion guidelines and serve as a library faculty member.
- Commit to professional development, scholarly service, and inclusion initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- ALA‑accredited masters degree in Library and Information Science.
- Two years’ experience in collection development.
- One year’s supervisory experience.
- Broad understanding of student and faculty collections across all disciplines.
- Familiarity with e‑resource access and authentication systems.
- Knowledge of scholarly communications issues.
- Experience with assessment methodologies in collection development.
- Ability to engage effectively in community building and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in collection development and budgeting.
- Experience leveraging data (e.g., Alma Analytics) for collection decisions.
- Knowledge of electronic resource licensing practices.
- Expertise in open‑access and scholarly communications.
- Quantitative analytics expertise (COUNTER, usage data).
Working Environment
Academic library environment, inclusive, with ergonomic workstations and secure Internet access. Team‑based collaboration is essential.
Physical Activities
Use PC for extended periods; move or lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
Work Schedule
Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, flexible as faculty schedules vary.
