Company Description

Leaders PR helps executives and B2B organizations show up like the leaders they are. We work primarily with:

  • Technology
  • Finance
  • Professional Services
  • Building & Construction
  • Industrial & Manufacturing
  • Nonprofit

We build narratives, earn meaningful visibility and build thought‑leadership platforms that support business goals for challenger brands and start‑ups.

Leaders PR is a start‑up agency : lean, hands‑on, and growing quickly. We’re selective about the clients we take on and obsessive about the quality of work we deliver. You’ll be joining early enough to help shape how the agency operates and grows.

Role Description

The PR Account Manager will be a key partner to the Founder and a key point of contact for several client accounts. You should be energized by running accounts independently, comfortable working in a lean environment, and excited to help build a business from the ground up. You’ll balance:

  • Strategic counsel and client‑facing leadership
  • Deep involvement in research, content development, media relations, and program and budget management.
  • Business development support and agency growth.

Desired Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Typically 5–10 years of experience in PR, communications, or related fields.
  • Previous agency experience with supervisory responsibilities; comfortable juggling multiple accounts and priorities.

Proven ability to:

  • Lead client conversations and manage expectations
  • Conceptualize and execute communications programs tied to business objectives
  • Independently pitch and secure media across relevant verticals
  • Create content, from social media posts to technical bylines, with little feedback

Key Responsibilities

1. Account Leadership & Client Counsel

  • Collaborate with the Founder to serve as the key contact for multiple clients, taking initiative to build strong relationships with founders, executive stakeholders, marketing leaders and other partners.
  • Provide ongoing strategic counsel:
  • Help clients prioritize initiatives based on business goals.
  • Provide new ideas and proactive recommendations based on communications best practices.
  • Offer calm, in‑the‑moment guidance and direction when unexpected issues or opportunities arise.
  • Lead regular client communications:
  • Manage development and delivery of agendas, recaps, discussion guides and strategy recommendations.
  • Facilitate productive discussions and keep meetings on track.
  • Act as a trusted advisor who can challenge, guide, and support clients. This is not a position for an order‑taker.

2. Campaign & Program Execution (Media + Content)

  • Develop and execute communications programs that may include:
  • Earned media, executive visibility, content development, social media strategy, and event/speaking support
  • Draft and edit high‑quality content, including:
  • Media pitches and briefing materials
  • Press releases and media alerts
  • Bylined articles, blogs, op‑eds, and POV pieces
  • Talking points, FAQs, executive quotes, speeches, presentations and more
  • Speaking and award submissions
  • Short‑form copy for LinkedIn and other channels
  • Lead and support media relations:
  • Build and maintain targeted media lists
  • Keep a pulse on business and industry news
  • Identify and refine compelling angles
  • Pitch reporters, editors, and podcast/bookers
  • Manage follow‑ups, track interest, and secure coverage
  • Conduct background research on industry trends, competitors, and adjacent storylines; awards, speaking opportunities, editorial calendars, and events; reporter/host preferences and formats

3. Business Development & Agency Building

Partner with the Founder on new business efforts:

  • Help research prospects and markets
  • Contribute ideas and independently develop content for capabilities and proposal decks
  • Support drafting scopes, proposals, and case‑study‑style narratives
  • Participate in new business calls and pitches

Help expand existing client scopes by:

  • Identifying gaps and opportunities
  • Proactively suggesting new initiatives, angles, or programs
  • Represent Leaders PR externally:
  • Build and leverage your network
  • Surface opportunities (events, partnerships, content) that elevate the agency’s profile

4. Account & Agency Management

Maintain clean, organized documentation, including:

  • Organized team file and folder management, with appropriate naming conventions.
  • PR plans
  • Coverage and opportunity trackers and client reports
  • Project timelines, Gantt charts, workback plans

Monitor account health:

  • Track hours and scopes; flag over‑ or under‑servicing
  • Help manage budgets and resources to support quality and profitability

People leadership:

  • First line of communication with our part‑time interns and contractors (writers, designers, media specialists)
  • Provide clear briefs, feedback, and deadlines

Uphold high standards for quality and timeliness:

  • Ensure all client‑facing work is accurate, on‑voice, and on time
  • Help standardize and improve templates and processes as we grow
  • High energy, low ego. You bring complete ownership to your work, without requiring constant affirmation to remain motivated.
  • Hands‑on and self‑directed. You’re happy rolling up your sleeves and moving projects forward with limited oversight. There is no assignment too big or too small.
  • Calm, steady presence. You navigate shifting priorities and sensitive issues without drama.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You don’t need every step spelled out. You can figure things out, make recommendations, and course‑correct.
  • Builder mindset. You’re excited by the idea of helping shape a growing agency’s standards, processes, and culture.
  • Collaborative and candid. You give and receive feedback well, and you’re always up for a good debate. You care more about delivering high quality work than about being right.

Why Leaders PR?

This isn’t a big, layered agency. It’s a small, growing firm where:

  • You’ll work directly with the Founder on strategy, executive counsel, and high‑impact programs.
  • You’ll own planning, execution, and client relationships, not just one level of the work.
  • Your ideas and initiative will have a direct, visible impact on both client outcomes and how the agency evolves.
  • We take the work seriously, but we respect that life exists outside of it. The goal is sustainable excellence for all of us.

As we grow, there’s a clear path for this role to evolve into a more senior account leadership position, with increased influence over agency direction, staffing, and offerings.

How to Apply

Please include in your application:

  • Resume (PDF)
  • 2–3 writing samples (e.g., press releases, bylines, op‑eds, pitches, or similar) and links to any standout media placements you believe would be relevant for the role.
  • Why this role and a startup agency environment appeal to you
  • A PR or visibility win you led and your role in making it happen
  • An example of a time you moved a project forward without a lot of direction

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the role is filled.
