Position Summary
UNC Greensboro Athletics is seeking a Director of Broadcast and Live Production who will be responsible for managing all aspects of video operations to ensure the delivery of quality live streaming of video productions for ESPN broadcasts in collaboration with the Athletics External Relations team. The position will direct the broadcast by providing leadership and directing all activities and personnel engaged in operating, maintaining, and programming the audio and video systems within the sports arena for home athletic events while ensuring the live video feed to ESPN remains uninterrupted. This position will serve as a liaison to The Southern Conference (SoCon) and ESPN to fulfill video requests used for broadcast and for distribution on various platforms, including social media and on the official athletics website. The role will also develop concepts and storylines for videos to be used at various UNCG athletic events, and work closely with the Creative Content Producer to produce videos for marketing and promotional use.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in a broadcast television, radio, and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in broadcast or video production, communication, media, sport management, or related field with at least one year of experience in live video production.
- At least two years of experience in athletic video production is required, with preference for candidates with professional or collegiate sports experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working on the live production side of athletic broadcasts (Ross Xpression graphics, Ross Switchers & CGs, Clearcom, 3‑Play, audio equipment, etc.).
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Master’s degree (preferred).
- Technical knowledge of video equipment (preferred).
- Understanding of NCAA rules (desired).
- Experience directing and producing live broadcasts (preferred).
Key Responsibilities
Broadcast Management
- Direct all ESPN+ live broadcasts from beginning to end.
- Act as producer, director, and engineer for ESPN or the corresponding platform to meet contractual obligations.
- Assist in developing video content for the athletics website, including shooting, editing, and producing features and recaps.
- Produce and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines for website and social media releases.
Team Supervision
- Supervise, teach, and instruct a team of students, temporary/part‑time staff, full‑time UNCG Athletics staff, and independent contractors to produce broadcasts.
- Provide supervision, scheduling, training, and logistical support; participate in hiring, termination, and vendor management decisions.
Creative Content Production
- Work closely with the Creative Content Producer to produce videos that support revenue generation and branding.
- Develop online multimedia initiatives (previews, highlights, features) for the athletics website and social media platforms.
- Script video promotional materials and create graphic design elements to assist marketing, fundraising, and ticketing operations.
Compliance
- Ensure all video productions comply with NCAA, Southern Conference, UNC Greensboro, and ESPN requirements.
Other Requirements
- Recruitment Range: $44,548 – $48,000.
- Full‑time; 12 months per year; FLSA: Non‑Exempt.
Physical Effort & Work Environment
- Physical effort includes standing, walking, lifting up to 30 lbs, and operating equipment in indoor and outdoor settings.
