As a member of a dynamic development team, the Senior HW designer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, architecture, design, testing and delivery to manufacturing of carrier‑grade hardware used for optical line systems capable of 400Gbps and beyond and broadband fiber access systems with PON rates of up to 50Gbps.

What you'll do

Lead HW development projects and advise and mentor other HW team members

Own all aspects of circuit pack development schedule, prototype delivery, product testing and product certification

Work with product line management and other managers to interpret and negotiate product features and specifications

Lead and interface with contract resources outside of your organization

Define technical specifications to support design concepts, and participate in specification peer reviews

Participate in design reviews, guide technical discussions to conclusion

Interface with component vendors and negotiate design specifications with external suppliers

Review Designs to ensure they meet architecture goals

Support the technology transfer to manufacturing/production testing

What you'll need to get the job done

Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 12+ years experience in optical transport or fiber access equipment development or high‑speed circuit pack development

Experience with 1RU-14RU carrier‑grade system requirements and high‑speed optical and access fiber transmission systems

Experience with board level development and being a lead designer for development projects

Experience and understanding of design for testability and manufacturability concepts

Experience in developing environmentally hardened optical transport and access systems Experience with a variety of optical interfaces and telecommunications standards up to 400G and beyond is an asset
