We’re currently seeking a Product Designer to join our Experience Design team. We’re passionate about creating memorable, meaningful product experiences that build the Capital One brand with humanity and drive business advantage and innovation.
About the Team The Card Onboarding team cultivates lasting customer relationships through positive early interactions with every new credit card customer. The onboarding period is a critical moment as the design of this first impression is essential for ensuring customer success, driving long‑term engagement, and accelerating the adoption of key benefits.
Role Expectations As a Product Designer, you’ll combine your craft expertise and leadership skills with an understanding of our customers and the business to co‑create innovative solutions to complex problems and influence product strategy.
Competencies
Product Design Expertise: Demonstrate a high degree of skill in product design across interaction, visual and service design; inform the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, and create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs and prototypes.
Leadership: Lead design projects, directing and delegating work for junior team members, build strong partnerships with cross‑functional stakeholders, and mentor and help mature the overall product design practice.
Human‑Centered: Navigate partner and stakeholder needs, leverage critical‑thinking with data, research, scalability and tech constraints, ensuring a customer‑centered and inclusive design focus.
Business‑Focused: Apply relevant insights on customers, competitors and market trends to business challenges, shaping a shared point of view for team and stakeholders.
Problem‑Solving: Use understanding of tech, data and emerging technologies to inform your work and help the cross‑functional team move faster within technical limits.
Collaboration: Foster collaboration across lines of business and the organization, share solutions, incorporate cross‑functional perspectives to bridge gaps in information and drive product strategy.
Communication: Present work across levels and functions using a human‑centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research insights to influence strategic decision‑making at senior levels.
Preferred Experience The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio demonstrating leadership, process, results and impact.
Basic Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role.
At least 5 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of experience in a Product Design role.
6+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
Experience working with and contributing to an established design system.
Experience collaborating with product, tech, and business partners.
Experience leading design projects or teams.
Experience working in heavily regulated, data‑heavy problem spaces.
Experience working in early, ambiguous spaces.
Experience contributing to product strategy, bridging creativity and business goals.

Salary
– Chicago, IL: $144,000 – $164,400; McLean, VA: $158,400 – $180,800; Philadelphia, PA: $144,000 – $164,400; Richmond, VA: $144,000 – $164,400. Additional performance‑based incentive compensation may be available.
