(Senior) Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications
Remote position. Candidates must be US‑based. Travel required 10–15%.
Responsibilities Project Management
Overall strategic management and content ownership of complex, highly visible projects on specific accounts, coordinating digital and interactive content and validating scientific accuracy with content experts.
Develop creative concepts and independently prepare client presentations to showcase featured content as directed by clients and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Drive long‑term planning of assigned accounts, including timelines, quality assurance, SOP creation, adherence, and budget monitoring.
Collaborate with internal project team members to meet client expectations.
Monitor projects for adherence to client strategy and pull‑through.
Synthesize client feedback for implementation by project team members.
Track and report on opportunities, key milestones, support requirements, etc., in Basecamp.
Manage, attend, and lead relevant internal meetings as needed.
Contribute to enhanced customer service through timely, high‑quality communications and deliverables, including thorough hand‑offs to project teams.
Maintain working knowledge of managed products, disease areas, and the competitive landscape.
Assist with preparation of client pitches, presentations, and metrics.
Manage faculty recruitment, engagement, and relationships on behalf of clients.
Participate in internal brainstorms, client strategy and planning sessions, and Summit Global Health strategy/planning sessions.
Development of Scientific Content
Authorship and support for publication and presentation of product and disease‑state information to support client strategy.
Design and lead content strategy for Summit Global Health with clients.
Create and present content in multiple media formats to support client objectives.
Review technical documents for regulatory compliance.
Identify, develop, recommend, and negotiate scientifically sound, creative solutions for clients’ critical business needs.
Monitor the competitive therapeutic landscape to evolve differentiated content strategies.
Critically review external scientific reports for inclusion as a resource.
Review clinical regulatory documents and communications.
Understand trends in the scientific communication landscape for data visualization and creative social/digital content.
Client Relations and Management
Manage the client relationship, setting clear expectations around deliverables and project plans.
Maintain regular contact with clients to ensure expectations are met.
Plan, schedule, organize team members, and prepare client update agendas and summaries for client update meetings.
Synthesize client feedback for implementation by project team members.
Collaborate with internal project teams and departments (Scientific Services, Interactive, Marketing) to meet client expectations.
Track and report on opportunities, milestones, and support requirements.
Play a key role in new business development, brainstorming client solutions, pitching new business, and supporting pitch presentation development.
Brand Management
Establish meaningful, professional relationships with client stakeholders, understanding roles, communication preferences, motivators, and desired outcomes for the brand and team.
Ensure the SGH brand is properly represented and promoted throughout client interactions, communications, and deliverables.
Promote and deliver sustainable service levels to enable efficient delivery of high‑quality products.
Provide data, decisions, and service delivery to support client, project, and community success.
Requirements
PhD (preferred) or PharmD with relevant concentration.
For a Scientific Advisor: 3–5 years in a medical communications agency; for a Senior Scientific Advisor: 5–8 years in a medical communications agency.
Relevant therapeutic background.
Strong knowledge of medical information resources and how to access and extract key information.
Strong team player willing to work in an environment that values initiative and accountability.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation development skills.
Data analysis and visualization skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize projects effectively.
Solutions‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to travel for representation of the company at client meetings, advisory boards, medical or industry conferences, pitch presentations, and other meetings as needed.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $95,100.00 - $237,700.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job‑related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part‑time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
